Amazon 3 / Narrative 1 (Purity)

Father Fergus inveighs against their impossible idea of creating a symphony to be sung by outlandishly painted creatures, especially since the music is, like the theatre they're standing in front of, an impure fusion of tribal and western elements. The priest knows all about ethnocentricity but still argues that the only hope for the tribal peoples of the Amazon is acculturation to western civilization.
