Amazon 2 / Narrative 3 (Nusala's Painting)
| Nusala enthusiastically agrees that Essella's way is the right way. She herself will paint every tribal person so brilliantly that the very sight of them will make a kind of visual music to support Essella's actual sonic music. (Note that the anthropologist Sahalin has hypothesized with good evidence that the first colors used by tribal people for art are black, white, and red. I think these are Nusala's colors.)ssella thinks out loud, as Nusala paints her, about the music she will compose for the tribe. It will use old tribal sound sources-drums of animal skin, gourd pipes, sticks struck together, body-beating-but it will also incorporate elements of western harmony and thus paradoxically use the power of the invaders to ward them off. Aaron and his love will help her. |
